After opening with prayer Mr Saunders read the minutes of last meeting in the absence of Mr King.  It was proposed by Miss S Baldwin and seconded by Miss Reading that during the absence of Mr King from the Church Meetings Mr Saunders should be asked to act as minute secretary.

The Treasurer’s Report for the previous quarter was next read, and showed a deficit of [£2.12.8½ amended with marginal“correction F.G.S” to be ] £2.8.4½ .  A discussion followed in which Mr Baldwin suggested that more use should be made by the members of the envelope system.  As there seemed a division on this question, a vote was taken as to the advisability of continuing the system, and a substantial majority voted in its favour.  Mr Saunders pointed out that an additional penny in the offerings at each service for every member would bring the church income up to the expenditure, while double that amount for one quarter would be sufficient to clear off the deficit.   Several members volunteered to act on this proposal, and it was further proposed by Mr Baldwin and seconded by Miss Halsey that a deputation be appointed to lay the financial state of the church before each member not present at the church meeting.   This was carried and Mr Baldwin and Mr Baker were appointed.
Mr Baldwin then brought to the notice of the meeting the poor attendance at the week-night service : it seemed that the service was not needed.  A discussion followed in which several members expressed their intention of supporting the service better in the future; the motion was then put to the meeting by Mr Saunders that the week-night service should still be continued and supported.  This was carried.
Meeting closed with prayer.

Dear Mr Thompson
I have asked Mr Matthews to go to Northchurch on Aug. 29th instead of Sept. 5th.  Mr Rose, who is booked for Aug 1st, has had a nervous breakdown and so I have substituted Mr Stubington.
Am truly surprised at the proposed gift you mention.  You will appreciate that it is somewhat difficult to say what I would like without some idea of the amount involved.  I have however enclosed a list of books of varying prices as I think it will be easiest in this way to receive something to the value of the amount collected.  Of course I am always after books.  Please don’t let them spend too much.
Have just heard that I am through with the Inter. B.D.  It is quite a relief.

With kindest regards and best wishes,
                                             Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Thompson
The arrangement entered into was that I should send down students to Northchurch for the first Sunday in the month until October and that in the meantime you should take the oversight of the Church as an experiment.  I shall be glad therefore if you will now let me know, for the information of the Preaching Station Society, what is the decision of the Church in regard to the future.  From your card to hand this morning it would appear that you expect the present arrangement to be continued and I certainly shall be pleased to supply students for Nov. 7th, Dec. 5th and such other Sundays as may be required.
I was hoping to be able to have a chat with you last Monday and am sorry that when I called, you did not hear me.  I hope you had a good time at Bovingdon.

                    With kindest regards,
                                              Yours sincerely

A special Church Meeting was Called on Nov 11th 1924
to consider the question of adding to the Diaconate.
Mr Baker had for some time acted alone in that capacity, and the expressed wish of the members was that Mr Evans should be invited to resume his position as deacon, that the church might be represented by two brethren.  Mr Evans had worthily served the Church as deacon for many years until he resigned some months before.  His absence had been keenly felt as his services had been valued.
It was proposed seconded and heartily carried that Mr Evans be re-elected deacon.
Mr Evans responded, Thanking the friends for their renewed confidence and promising whatever help he could find from various former duties to the Church.
Mr Price and his colleague were present and reported that the work of the Church had been maintained and in some directions developed during the time of their pastoral change.  Mr Price’s help is greatly appreciated, as is the generous help of the Pioneer Baptist Mission, whose representative Mr Price is.

1925 The Annual Church meeting was held on Wed Feb [no date]
and the vestry was well filled for the occasion.  Reports showed that the year’s work was much as last year, and that signs of promise were visible.  It was urged that by loyalty, cooperation and prayer much could be accomplished.
Miss Baldwin gave the Treasurer’s report, and Miss Pocock the Missionary report.  Thanksgiving and prayer closed the meeting.  Rev. H.H. Thompson presided.
